Why Entrepreneurs Need a Rejuvenation

Memorial Day Weekend just recently passed, which means many people either vacationed, barbecued or simply rested for those three days. If you are an entrepreneur you might have skipped all of those things all together and just worked as if it was a regular day. If working was your main objective I believe you made a mistake. Why, you may ask. Are entrepreneurs not supposed to remain focused on their business and work harder than the average person? Yes, but even the hardest worker needs a break every so often.

I recently came back from Miami, a trip I took over this Memorial Day Weekend. I would not call it a vacation but more of a rejuvenation, awakening trip. I say this because being in Miami, outside of my normal routine opened my eyes from being half way shut. You see, I got bogged down in thinking only in my surrounding space and focusing on my immediate actions; without recognizing the world around me is an open space. Miami is such an international city with a lot of connectivity and along with the affluence that surrounds it, it made my hunger to excel grow. I began to realize that if I want to be the best then I have to surround myself with the best and compete with the best. I would not say that being in Atlanta has weakened me but it has just been my home for my entire life. Placing myself in a new environment made me say to myself, “it’s time to elevate your game.” And that is what I am going to do. Elevate my grind, sharpen my hustle and execute my goals.

You may not need to travel outside your city but take time off to step back and analyze yourself and your situation. As an entrepreneur, a rejuvenation is needed periodically in order to refocus and re-energize your mind. We get too caught up in our daily routines and on pressing hard in our grind that we sometimes lose steam without realizing we are doing so. Taking time to rest your mind allows for fresh thoughts, which is vital for an entrepreneur’s longevity. Work hard but take the time to do a little playing also. It will make you go harder in order to get what you want for yourself. Work hard. play harder.
